Immigration Through Employment

EB-2 Aliens with Advanced Degrees

Employment-Based 2nd Preference Category (EB-2):

The EB-2 category applies to professionals holding advanced academic degrees, or aliens of exceptional ability in the arts, sciences, or business.
In order to apply for a green card through the EB-2 category, the alien’s U.S. employer will need to complete the Labor Certification or PERM process. The alien need not be working for the sponsoring employer when the PERM application is filed—an offer of employment is sufficient.

Generally, the EB-2 categories apply to those who hold a Master’s Degree or its equivalent.
